Studio 2 journal entry week: 12 & 13

The last 2 weeks have all been about finalising my project and handing everything in.

I finished my Viking house by making a few more assets, putting everything into Unreal, and painting in the foliage. I worked on another last minute cross discipline, where Damon set up all my lighting for my Project which was very helpful. This is the final result of my Specialisation Project:

I also put together a showreel of the best work I have created to date. My first attempt at the showreel was not at all what was expected, as i hadnt done any previous research to what a showreel was. So after realising my mistake I frantically made another one (still not great, but better than the first attempt).

During week 13 there was an exhibition where everyone in all disciplines showcased their work, and it was then when I realised how important showreels really are. I wish I had known as I would have spent more time on creating something better, I may have even changed my whole specialisation project if I was made more aware of what a showreel was and how important they are to getting a job (I know it should have been obvious, but I didnt know). For the next Trimester I really want to create an AWESOME showreel and make more content to fill it up with.

So this Trimester comes to an end and I feel happy with what I have done, especially when looking at other student's showreels. I feel as though I am not as behind or as bad as I thought I was, and I am starting to feel more confident with my modelling skills.

I am actually excited for the next Trimester!
